The objectives of the Trust are 'to advance education of and appreciation by the public in the works and in particular the music of the composer Erik Chisholm.'
It set about establishing a base in the UK for Chisholm music and papers. The Scottish Music Centre offered to be the repository for this material, most of which is in the University of Cape Town (UCT) Archive Library.
The Trust meets at the Scottish Music Centre and twenty meetings have taken place since its inception. Meeting No.21 planned for 14th June, postponed because of unforseen circumstances has been rescheduled for October 22nd 2010, in Perth so that the MMM Exhibition may be enjoyed.

Erik Chisholm Newsletter 2010 |
The ECT met twice in 2009. The spring meeting was held at our usual venue, Scottish Music Centre, City halls, Glasgow. On October 22nd we met at the Birmingham Conservatoire of Music, the venue in the evening for the biography launch. The year went well for Chisholm's music. Several projects reached fruition while new ones began. Some highlights of the year's activities follows.

|
Catalogue of Piano WorksAll Chisholm’s music for the Music for Piano series has been typeset and catalogued; published scores can now be purchased on the Chisholm and SMC websites. Composer Allan Stephenson and Trustee Michael Jones have been spinning away at this for years. Several more years will pass before the rest of handwritten Chisholm straw turns to gold, but it will happen. |

Trust Annual Report |
The eighth annual report for the year ending 31st August 2009 was submitted to the Charity Commission on 14 March 2009.It is no longer a requirement to present a formal report (other than the financial statement) where the Charities income is less than £10.000. At £2,411 ours was substantially below the limit. Resources expended ( Biography, Website, Artist's fees, Administration) at £11, 896 were significant but it was a good year for Chisholm's music. Highlights were the publication of the John Purser's Chisholm Biography and reissue of the 4 disc Music for Piano series by Divine Art.

Chairman’s ECT diary
Suddenly the pace has quickened
Friday June 19 Undoubtedly the event of the year is the publication of the Chisholm biography. What great good fortune that John Purser, uniquely qualified to write this, took it on in 2004 and finished it in one year. The ECT Web Biography section gives its details but only I can tell you how much it means to my two sisters and me and in the years to come to his eight granddaughters and thirteen great grandchildren.
