The Erik Chisholm Trust

This website is maintained by the Erik Chisholm Trust. The Trust was established in April 2001 and granted charitable status on 26 June 2001.

Trustees: (clockwise from left) Fiona Wright, Hugh Macdonald, Morag Chisholm, Andrew Johnston, Michael Jones, John Purser and Martin Dalby

The Trust's objective is to advance appreciation by the public of the works and in particular the music of composer Erik Chisholm. It set about establishing a base in the UK for Chisholm music and papers. The Scottish Music Centre offered to be the repository for this material, much of which is also in the University of Cape Town (UCT) Archive Library.

With the kind permission of the Scottish Music Centre meetings took place 18th June & 28th September 2012 at their large reception room at City Halls, Glasgow. Following Morag Chisholm’s announcement that she will stand down as Chair in June next year and the election of Fiona Wright as her successor there is much to discuss about the future running of the Trust. Morag will continue as a trustee and Vice Chair but as Fiona has a full-time job it is agreed that expansion of the work force is needed, a critical issue. Other items on the agenda were the finance strategy, increased marketing, plans for CDs & concerts in 2013. See Chairman’s report for details. The next meeting is set for 19th April and predictably it will be a full agenda.
